Being Scammed From Sites

I really hate sites that tell you they are going to pay and then you get scammed! I was a member of Dormcheck for a month and a half and I earn quite a bit of money on there but never got paid because the owner went broke! The whole time he was on his "leave of absence" some of the moderators said they personally talked to him and he told them everything was fine and payments were just taking longer then usual. Then all of a sudden he comes back and says that he went broke and couldn't pay anyone. I wasted a lot of my time there and that sucks. I guess I need to be more cautious when I join new sites.
